Plyboard Projects Using Defective Plyboard Pieces and Scraps

Next time you are searching local plyboard distributors, you may notice that some have sections for scrap parts or for boards that are defective. This does not mean the boards are not capable of being used. In fact, most of the defective boards may be ones that have a slight imperfection or were stained the wrong colour for a client. With that in mind, you may be wondering what you can do with these pieces of plyboard. Here are a few projects that are functional and easy to put together.

Doghouse

One of the easiest and quickest plyboard projects, that can use scrap or defective plyboard, is a doghouse. These houses are basically made out of six pieces of plyboard cut to make the back wall, side walls, bottom, and roof of the doghouse. You can use more pieces if you want to give the doghouse a walk up ramp or if you want to build it up off the ground for colder months of the year. Make sure if you do this project that you seal the plyboard and stain it so it is secure from water damage throughout the year.

Rolling Kitchen Pantry

If you find that you do not have enough room in your kitchen, then a mobile rolling kitchen pantry may be ideal. These use very little plyboard, some hinges, nails, and rollers. You can build it to suit your needs and even create a chopping block style top to give you more counter space for cutting up meats, fruits, and vegetables. The cart can be built to move between cabinets or go into a corner space easily. You can also use it to store your microwave or coffee pot while using the bottom as pantry storage.

Coffee Table and Entertainment Center

If you want to go for a larger project, and you need to update your furniture on a budget, you may want to consider using scrap or defective plyboard for a coffee table and entertainment center. The designs can be basic or they can be upgraded to fit a certain type of design pattern you are looking for. The plyboard will likely need to be sanded down to create a smooth finish and then can be left natural or upgraded with paint of your choice to fit your home decor options. Keep in mind, if you will be using the coffee table to hold drinks, you may want to consider a waterproofing seal before using the table.

These are just a few of the projects you can create using scrap and defective plyboard from plyboard distributors. Remember to ask the distributors if they have extra board from various orders. Some will have extra board and will be happy to give it away.

About Me

Building an Home Extension

Hello, my name is Wendy and this is my construction blog. I do not work in the construction industry myself, but I have spent the last 7 months of my life with construction workers and contractors as they designed and built an extension to my property. I had always dreamed of extending my home so we could enlarge the kitchen and have an additional bedroom on the second-floor. My husband always objected, but when I won some money on the lotto, he couldn't stop me. The contractors were really great and I got a real insight into the industry so I decided to start this blog.
